Magpies in flight on plywood

Our design inspiration sometimes comes from very close to home. These magpies are part of the family group we have shared our garden with for quite a few years. Described as one of Australia's most accomplished songbirds, they often choose the sugar gum trees (Eucalyptus cladocalyx) in our street from which to farewell the daylight. Magpies commonly ‘adopt’ human families like ours and frequent their gardens over successive breeding generations.
